Commentary
On the 10th of February 1933, C.E Daniels the Head Teacher wrote a letter to the Department of Public Instruction. The letter reads as follows:
"As I am compelled to use a shed continuously as a class it is necessary that it should be made a little more weatherproof. It is boarded on the weather side but not all the way to the ground. This can be remedied very cheaply by means of a couple of sheets of galvanized iron. The roof is perforated in several places, and this also can can easily be repaired. The material and labour can be obtained locally and at a cost of 1 pound and I am requesting authority to have the work done."
The Department's reply, five days later on the 15th of Febuary was:
"Though small I do not think the expenditure of the 1 pound is warranted. In the event of wet weather the shed is too far removed from the school to be used and under the school would be more satisfactory. The expenditure of 1 pound is not approved it is not considered to be warranted."
In 1933 the Great Depression ended.
