Commentary

During the 2nd 25 years at Mundingburra State School, there were a lot of changes including the growth of the school and the community use of the school. The word Mundingburra is believed to mean:'Munding' meaning Aboriginal, and 'Burra' meaning home or hole. It has also been researched that in other meanings 'Munding' means long grass, and 'Burra' means tribe.

At first Mundingburra was spelt with an 'H' on the end of the word but it was decided to change it at the same time the suburb changed the spelling of its name.

In 1914 there were 100 kids crammed in one very small classroom. Because of this, more buildings were eventually added and more land was aquired at the back of the school. During the years of the depression, the school committee raised money by holding school dances, concerts, street stalls and a garden fete and were able to purchase resources for the school.
