Commentary

After the first fifty years at Mundingburra there were renovations to buildings, armed forces in the school, and changes in the school uniforms.

The school buildings were now overcrowded and consequently, during the late 1930's it was extensively renovated.

During the World War II, the army set up camp in the school grounds and used the part of the school playground and several classrooms. The army had decided that the school grounds were a suitable site for their accomodation as the men were being used for duty at the wharves. In 1942, with the threat of Japanese bombings, trenches were dug on the school grounds. Schools in Townsville were eventually closed. Bit by bit the schoool apened again. First the grade 6 and 7's came in. Then the 4's and 5's. then the 2's and 3's and finally the 1's and preps.

In 1954 a school uniform was introduced to the school.
